What is the Text Sharpness Test Online?
Inspect text clarity at multiple sizes and weights
How to use this test
Inspect text clarity at multiple sizes and weights. Enter full-screen mode, use your normal viewing distance and inspect the whole panel. Results depend on your display, browser, scaling and room conditions.
How to judge text sharpness and scaling
Text is one of the easiest ways to notice poor scaling, excessive sharpening or unusual anti-aliasing. This page shows controlled samples at several sizes and weights so you can compare readability across display modes and browser zoom levels.
For a more reliable result
- Begin at 100% browser zoom and the operating system’s normal recommended scaling.
- Inspect both thin and bold strokes; ringing or colored fringes can become more obvious on high-contrast text.
- Compare native resolution with any non-native display mode because resampling often softens text.
- If only one browser looks different, font rendering or browser settings may be involved rather than the panel itself.
What this test cannot confirm
This is a visual clarity test, not a measurement of subpixel geometry or color calibration. Some modern systems deliberately use grayscale anti-aliasing rather than older subpixel techniques.
