What can a full-screen pixel test reveal?
Solid colors make small display defects easier to notice because every pixel is being asked to show the same color. Move through white, black, red, green, blue and gray while looking at the center, edges and corners of the panel.
Dead pixels
A pixel or subpixel that does not light correctly may appear persistently dark against bright test colors. Retest the same point on several backgrounds before classifying it.
Stuck or bright pixels
A point that remains red, green, blue, white or unusually bright while surrounding pixels change may be stuck or otherwise defective.
Uniformity issues

LCD, LED, IPS, OLED and AMOLED screens
The same visual tests can be used across common display technologies, but the symptoms are not identical. OLED and AMOLED panels emit light per pixel, so there is no conventional LCD backlight bleed, but you may instead notice image retention, burn-in, near-black non-uniformity or failed pixels.
