What is a black screen useful for?

A pure black screen helps reveal bright or stuck pixels, backlight bleed, IPS glow, light leakage and near-black behavior. It can also provide a distraction-free dark display for long sessions when you want the browser to remain open.

10 hours of pure black screen

Choose 10 Hours and press Start. The page renders pure #000000, keeps the timer and controls hidden until you move, tap or press a key, and requests Screen Wake Lock when supported. The operating system can still override Wake Lock for battery, thermal or policy reasons.

OLED, AMOLED and LCD behavior

On many OLED and AMOLED displays, pure black pixels can emit little or no light because individual pixels can switch off. LCD screens normally keep a backlight active even when the image is black, so power behavior is different. This utility does not measure power consumption.

Backlight bleed and bright-pixel checks

Use a dim room and a comfortable brightness. Fixed bright areas near edges can indicate light leakage, while IPS glow often changes as your viewing angle changes. A tiny colored or white point on black may be a stuck or bright pixel.

4K and 8K black backgrounds

Download exact black PNG backgrounds for TVs, monitors, phones, presentations or video workflows. The 4K file is 3840×2160 and the 8K file is 7680×4320. Downloads contain a flat #000000 image without text or watermarks.

Long sessions are browser sessions

The 10-hour, 24-hour, 100-hour and no-limit options continue only while the browser page remains open and the device permits it. They are not operating-system screensavers and cannot override every power-saving rule.

How to use the full-screen color safely

  1. Set your display to a comfortable brightness.
  2. Choose the exact color or shade you need.
  3. Select a duration only when you need a long session.
  4. Keep Screen Awake enabled if you want the browser to request Wake Lock.
  5. Press Exit or the browser Escape control when finished.

Long-duration color screens are browser utilities. They do not override every operating-system sleep, battery, thermal or screen-protection rule.

Frequently asked questions

Is the black screen pure #000000?

Yes. The Pure Black preset renders #000000 with no visible text after the controls hide.

Will the page keep my screen awake for 10 hours?

It requests the Screen Wake Lock API when supported, but browsers and operating systems may release or deny a wake lock.

Does a black screen save battery?

It may reduce display power on many OLED or AMOLED panels. LCD behavior is different because the backlight usually remains active.

Can black screen fix burn-in?

No. It can help inspect image retention, black levels or unevenness, but it does not guarantee repair of permanent burn-in.
