What can a white screen be used for?

A white screen makes dark pixels, dust, fingerprints and brightness differences easier to notice. It can also act as a simple temporary light or clean background for a webcam, photo or video when you do not need calibrated studio lighting.

White screen for checking a display

A pure #FFFFFF screen is useful when looking for dark or inactive pixels and uneven brightness. Inspect the panel at normal viewing distance first, then look more closely at suspicious areas. For a complete pixel check, combine white with black, red, green and blue rather than relying on one color.

White screen for light, webcam and selfies

The full-screen mode can provide a broad light source from a laptop, monitor, tablet or phone. Warm White and Soft White presets reduce the cool appearance of pure white for calls, selfies and simple video lighting. A display is not a calibrated photographic light, so color and brightness vary by device.

White screen for cleaning visibility

White makes fingerprints, dust and smudges easy to find. Use the screen only to locate marks; before physically cleaning a display, follow the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions and power the device down when recommended.

White screen for X-ray film or tracing

A bright white display may provide basic backlighting for a physical film, tracing sheet or translucent object. It is not a medical diagnostic viewer and should not be used to interpret X-rays or make health decisions.

10-hour white screen and OLED caution

The long-duration timer is available for users who genuinely need a continuous white background. Sustained bright content can use significant power and may increase heat, especially on phones and OLED displays, so use an appropriate brightness and take breaks when long operation is unnecessary.

Need a white surface to draw on?

A full white field can help you notice projector focus differences, dust shadows, brightness falloff and obvious color shading across the projected image. It does not measure projector lumens or calibration accuracy.

How to use the full-screen color safely

1. Set your display to a comfortable brightness.
2. Choose the exact color or shade you need.
3. Select a duration only when you need a long session.
4. Keep Screen Awake enabled if you want the browser to request Wake Lock.
5. Press Exit or the browser Escape control when finished.

Long-duration color screens are browser utilities. They do not override every operating-system sleep, battery, thermal or screen-protection rule.
